Many teams perform well in Metrowest year-end tourney.

The Attleboro Metrowest travel basketball program concluded another outstanding season earlier this month, claiming two Metrowest titles, one runner-up finish, and multiple teams making deep runs into their tournament bracket.   At one point on championship day, three different Attleboro teams were competing in very close games at the same time!

The Metrowest league is considered the most competitive travel basketball league in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, composed of more than 70 town programs for boys and girls in grades 4-8.  Each grade division can have as many as 90 teams competing in 5 different divisions.

On the boys side, the boys 4th grade blue team capped off a great 19-1 season with a strong run in the Division 2 tourney and an exciting championship game win over a tough Revere team.  The team started the season in Division 3 and was moved into Division 2 after an outstanding regular season, where they continued to prove their mettle.

The boys 5th grade division 1 blue team also finished another strong year with a 14-7 record and a fourth place ranking out of 91 teams, making it to the D1 metro final four.  The 6th grade boys blue also made a deep run in the D2 semifinals, finishing the year at 14-8, while the 6th grade boys white found their footing in the tournament to charge to the D3 tournament semifinals. Meanwhile the 7th grade boys blue completed an outstanding 11-1 league regular season in D2, getting bumped up to the D1 tourney where they faced a tough first tournament game.   The boys 7th white picked up two wins in the D4 tourney to advance to the final four semifinal. Finally, the boys 8th grade D1 team finished the regular season as the number 1 ranked team in Metrowest basketball with an 11-1 regular season league record, but were upset by Bridgewater in the first round. It was the fourth time they had played Bridgewater this year. The boys 8th grade finished the year at 18-5 overall.  Meanwhile, the 8th grade white team also finished at 7-10 slate in Division 3. The 8th grade group is a very deep class overall and should be one to watch as they enter high school next year to begin their high school careers.

On the girls side, the 4th grade blue girls displayed their signature grit and hustle throughout the season and tournament, which culminated in a heartbreaking 1 point loss to Walpole in the D2 championship game.  This group shows great promise for Blue Pride in the future. Meanwhile, the girls 5th grade blue took home the D2 championship trophy with an exciting come-from-behind victory over Natick. The defending D1 state champion 6th grade girls completed another impressive year with a  10-9 record in a brutally tough division and semi-final finish in the tournament. The girls 8th grade blue completed a successful 10-8 season and their Metrowest careers with a quarterfinal finish in the D2 bracket. Good luck to this group as they enter high school next year.

Overall, Attleboro teams displayed a great sense of teamwork and grit throughout the season, with many teams competing a level up from prior years.  We congratulate all players, coaches, and parents for another outstanding Metrowest travel season.
