Team Wins 5 out of Final 6 Games to Start HS Careers

The Attleboro girls rising 9th grade basketball team took the MPC D2 championship last weekend, capping a consistent rise in their level of play over the past 4 years.   The team started the summer by dropping 4 close games, but finished the regular season 3-5 by winning 3 of their last 4 to gather momentum into the tournament.

In the summer league tournament,  the girls continued solid play by beating Hopkinton 32-25 in the playoff semifinal.  Sonny Stuger and Ryan Johnson controlled the boards and kept their bigs in check, while Rachel Ferragi played outstanding defense. Shae Salisbury and Emma Reilly lead the offensive attack.

The team then went on to beat a very good Stoughton squad 28-24 in the finals.  Gabby Bosh and Laura McVeigh provided  much needed offense the last 5 minutes of the game to help Big Blue pull away.  Brenna Morse and Amelia Meier provided us a with a solid defensive effort.

"Both of these wins were great team wins," added head coach Jay Bosh, "these girls have worked hard at their game the last 4 years during their metro journey.  They have grown into a solid group players and an even better group of young ladies.  Winning this summer title was a great way to start off their high school careers."

We, at AYBA wish them luck in high school, and look forward to watching you play @ AHS.
