Update for 2022-2023 Season

Hello All,

Thank you for signing up for Middle School Rec In Town Basketball.  If you have not signed up please sign up by the following:

I wanted to give everyone a next step outline of what to expect the next 1.5 months (I know how important dates are):

Evaluations: Below is the schedule for Evaluations, please make every effort to attend.  This helps us balance teams. This is for BOYS only, GIRLS will be evaluated when we start practice (as there are lower numbers) and this will be most likely Nov 7th Monday so GIRLS please hold that date for now.

Note:  If you have made a metro team you do not need to attend, if you tried out for metro travel and did not make a team, feel free to attend to get another work out in, but we do have an eval on file so not required.

   Sat 10/22

        8:30-9:45 Players Zoned for Wamsutta Grade 5/6 Boys

        10:00-11:15 Players Zoned for Brennan Grade 5/6 Boys

        11:30-12:45 Players Zoned for Coelho Grade 5/6 Boys

 

@ Thacher Elementary School  (Boys Only)

    Sun 10/23 

        8:30-9:45 Players Zoned for Wamsutta Grade 7/8 Boys

If there is a conflict during the evaluations please do not just show up to another slot on that day, please get the ok from Craig Wright @ craig.wright@bd.com before you attend an alternate slot.  Also, plan on bringing a ball (we have a few) and a water bottle.

 

Some other dates to have on your calendar, practices will most likely start week of 11/7 so give me a week or so after eval’s to create teams and will be communicated by coaches before practice week.  Games start Saturday 11/26.  More to come on schedules, etc as we get closer to these dates.

We hope everyone is doing well.  We are happy to announce that registrations are open for the upcoming 2022-2023 AYBA season!  Please use the links below to register for all AYBA programs for Rec (grades K-12) and Metro (grades 4-8) for boys & girls.

 * 3rd graders are welcome to try out for 4th grade Metro and will be evaluated depending on the number of 4th graders

EXPECTATIONS FOR ATTENDANCE: Attending both tryouts is not required, but players must attend at least one tryout to be considered.  However, the more the evaluators get to see of a player (e.g. their skills, how they compete in game situations, how they compare against other players, etc.), the better and more complete the picture will be of a player when making selections.  The competition at every grade level gets better and better every year, and the evaluation/selection process is not easy, so the more info we have, the better.
 
CONFLICTS: Please make every effort to attend tryouts during your grade's time slot. Do NOT attend a different grade's time slot. While we have allowed this in the past, it’s just not very effective in terms of properly evaluating players. The evaluators need to see the kids competing for spots playing with and against one another in a similar grade.
