7th Grade Rising Boys and Girls Take D1 2019 Summer League Titles

Girls Rising 6th Captures D2 Crown. Many Attleboro Teams Have Strong Summers

The Mass Premier summer basketball league finished up over the past two weekends with a flurry of tourney titles won by Attleboro teams.  Boys and girls teams from soon to be 5th grade through varsity high school teams competed from early June through early August. Three Attleboro teams took home tournament championships led by the boys and girls 7th grade D1 travel, both going undefeated through their regular season and tournament brackets, while the girls rising 6th also took home the D2 crown this past weekend.  In addition to the tournament titles, several more teams won their regular season division crowns in a very strong summer of basketball. 

The 7th grade boys team was dominant throughout the summer, with an average margin of victory of over 25 points per game through 10 games, including a 25 point win in the finals against Milton. Since January 1, 2019 in both Metrowest travel and summer league, this group has a combined record of 20-1.   The 7th grade girls were equally impressive with an average winning margin of 19 points per game, including a 16 point win over Franklin in the final.After a successful 6-2 regular season, the girls rising 6th grade won their title game in a defensive battle over Medway 19-12. Congrats to these three teams for bringing home the hardware!. 

In other age divisions, the boys JV/Varsity D2 team came alive in the postseason, advancing all the way to the final game before falling to Dighton Rehoboth, while the boys rising 9th grade won their regular season title and elected to play up in the JV division for the tournament, losing a close opening game.  The girls varsity also made it to the tournament final after a successful 10-5 summer season. 

Other teams posting strong summer league seasons included the girls D2 rising 5th who went 8-1 over the summer. Meanwhile, the boys rising 6th finished the regular season at 7-1 in the D2 level, but were bumped up to the D1 tournament where they lost an OT thriller to eventual runner up Bridgewater 39-38 in the first round. The girls rising 8th grade posted an 8-2 record during the hot months. 

Collectively, Attleboro boys and girls teams in all divisions had an impressive 102-49 combined record.  Congrats to all athletes and coaches for a job well done and for representing Attleboro hoops so well.
